Clase Azul Reposado (70cl)
Clase Azul is the tequila that changed what a premium bottle could be. Made in the highlands of Los Altos de Jalisco, it pairs a genuinely fine spirit with a hand-painted ceramic decanter - and it was the Reposado, the brand's first release, that built the reputation the whole range now rests on.
The agave is Blue Weber, slow-cooked in traditional stone ovens before fermentation and double distillation in copper pot stills. The rested spirit then spends eight months in American whiskey casks, which is where the pale-gold colour and the softness come from - long enough to round the agave off, short enough to keep it tasting of agave rather than oak.
The result is smooth and unhurried: cooked agave and agave nectar up front, then candied orange peel, toasted hazelnut and warm vanilla, with clove and cinnamon on a gently spiced finish. A sipping tequila - serve it neat, at room temperature, in a small glass, and give it time.
