Domaines Ott Clos Mireille Rosé, Côtes de Provence (2024)
Domaines Ott is the founding name of Provence rosé, and Clos Mireille is its most coastal expression. The estate sits right on the Mediterranean in the La Londe nature reserve, its vines planted on ancient schist and limestone-free clay and cooled by an almost constant sea breeze. That setting - salt air, poor stony soil, relentless light - is what gives the wine its character.
The winemaking is deliberately restrained: gentle pressing, cool fermentation in steel, and slightly longer ageing on the lees than the estate's other rosés, which lends a subtle creamy richness. The blend is led by Grenache for texture, with Cinsault for freshness and a little Rolle and Syrah for length. Domaines Ott has been certified organic since 2022.
In the glass it's pale shell-pink and finely drawn - white peach, apricot and Seville orange, a creamy note underneath, and a long, saline citrus finish that's the signature of this seaside site. Serve well chilled, around 8-10°C.
