By Ott Rosé, Domaines Ott (2024)
Domaines Ott is the founding name of Provence rosé. Marcel Ott began buying and reviving Provençal estates in 1896, and four generations later the family - now under the wing of Champagne house Louis Roederer - still sets the template the whole region follows: pale, dry, and built to be taken seriously. By.Ott is their accessible cuvée, made in the newer cellar at Château de Selle.
The fruit comes mostly from the family's own Château de Selle and Clos Mireille estates, topped up with long-standing partner growers, and from the 2024 vintage it's certified organic. Grenache leads the blend for texture and fruit, with Cinsault for freshness and a little Syrah, Mourvèdre and Rolle for depth - whole-bunch pressed and cool-fermented in steel to hold that crystalline pale colour.
In the glass it's classic Ott: barely-there pink, delicate and dry, with white peach, apricot and a twist of citrus zest over a clean, mineral finish. Serve well chilled, around 8-10°C.
