Pommery Cuvée Louise 2005 Champagne in Gift Box - Edition Parcelle

Cuvée Louise is the wine Pommery makes only when the vintage deserves it, named for Louise Pommery, the widow who built the house into one of Champagne's greatest. It's a blend of 65% Chardonnay from Avize and Cramant and 35% Pinot Noir from Aÿ - three Grand Cru villages that are among the most prized addresses in all of Champagne, and the only sources Cuvée Louise has ever drawn on.

The wine spends around a decade on the lees in Pommery's chalk cellars before release, which is what gives it the depth, fine bead and creamy texture of a fully mature Champagne. As a gift this is about as serious as Champagne gets: a named great vintage, a flagship cuvée, from a house with genuine history - a bottle for someone who'll understand exactly what it is.
