Akitu A2 Pinot Noir 2020 | Central Otago | Fulham Wine Co. – The Fulham Wine Company

Akitu

Perched at 380 metres in the Upper Wanaka subregion of Central Otago, Akitu is a specialist estate devoted exclusively to Pinot Noir. Planted on a north-facing slope of thin, schist-rich soils, the vineyard experiences dramatic alpine diurnal shifts that build aromatic detail and natural structure. Guided by winemaker Andrew Donaldson, the approach is measured and low-intervention, allowing the site to speak clearly across the A1 and A2 labels. These are precise, high-altitude Pinot Noirs with purity, depth and a distinctive crystalline tension that reflects their remarkable setting.

Central Otago

Framed by the snow-capped Southern Alps, Central Otago is the world’s southernmost major wine region and a benchmark for high-altitude Pinot Noir. This rugged, semi-continental landscape combines intense sunlight, low rainfall and schist-rich soils, creating powerful diurnal shifts that preserve freshness and structure. From the cooler terraces of Gibbston to the warmer slopes of Bannockburn, the region produces Pinot Noir with purity, depth and natural energy. Central Otago wines are defined by concentration and clarity, balancing bold fruit with precision and poise.
