Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars – Napa Valley Icons
Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars helped put Napa Valley on the global wine map with its elegant, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, its wines continue to showcase the grace and structure that define the region’s best terroir. From the powerful yet polished Artemis Cabernet, to the crisp Aveta Sauvignon Blanc and expressive Karia Chardonnay, this is Napa winemaking at its most refined.
A Napa Legacy Since 1970
Founded in the heart of the Stags Leap District, this iconic winery helped place Napa on the world wine map. Its 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon shocked the wine world by outscoring Bordeaux’s best at the 1976 Judgement of Paris – a defining moment that cemented California's place among the great wine regions of the world. Today, the estate upholds its legacy with every vintage.
Cabernet with Grace and Power
Renowned for its iconic Cabernet style – often described as “an iron fist in a velvet glove” – Stag’s Leap crafts wines with structure, intensity and finesse. Artemis, their flagship Napa Cabernet, is approachable in its youth yet worthy of time in the cellar, showcasing layers of ripe fruit, savoury depth, and seamless texture.
Born of Volcanic Soils
The Stags Leap District AVA combines volcanic and riverbed soils, producing wines of natural complexity and age-worthiness. These gravelly, well-drained soils encourage deep root systems, low yields, and concentrated flavours – the foundation for expressive reds like Artemis and graceful whites like Karia and Aveta.
Cool Nights, Long Seasons
Situated near San Pablo Bay, the estate experiences warm days and cool nights that preserve acidity and structure. These extended growing seasons allow grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, lending Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc their signature freshness, energy and mineral lift.
Timeless Craftsmanship, Modern Appeal
While steeped in history, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars continues to evolve - combining decades of vineyard knowledge with precise, modern winemaking. All wines are crafted to reflect their Napa origins with purity, balance and the ability to age gracefully. Whether you’re discovering the label for the first time or returning to a favourite, each wine offers a polished expression of place.
