Lucia by Pisoni Garys’ Vineyard Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands
The 2021 Vintage
Garys’ Vineyard is the result of a legendary handshake between two of California’s most iconic growers, Gary Pisoni and Gary Franscioni. While many wineries clamour for even a few rows of this fruit, the Pisoni family retains the "heart of the block" for their Lucia label. It is the undisputed Grand Cru of the Santa Lucia Highlands - a site that has become the benchmark for what high-altitude, maritime Pinot Noir can achieve.
The pedigree here is rooted in the "Pisoni Clone," a heritage vine cutting with a history as storied as the family itself. In the deep, wind-swept sandy loams of Monterey, these vines produce a Pinot Noir of haunting perfume and a texture so seamless it feels like liquid velvet. Jeff Pisoni’s winemaking is patient and hands-off, allowing the natural intensity of the old vines to provide the structure rather than relying on heavy-handed cellar techniques.
There is a distinct sense of place in every bottle - a mineral energy and floral lift that is rarely found outside of the top domaines in Burgundy. It is a wine that rewards those who look beyond the obvious labels, offering a level of sophistication and site-specificity that earns its place on any serious table.
