Ruinart Rosé Champagne NV in Second Skin Eco-Friendly Packaging
Ruinart was founded in 1729, the oldest Champagne house, and it made the first known rosé Champagne back in the 18th century. What sets this rosé apart from most is the Chardonnay: the house's signature grape runs right through it, lifting and freshening a wine that elsewhere would lean entirely on Pinot.
It's a Pinot Noir-led blend with a substantial portion of Chardonnay for freshness, drawn from the Côte des Blancs, Montagne de Reims and Vallée de la Marne, with a measure of red wine blended in to give the colour and red-fruit depth. A good share of reserve wines adds roundness. Made in stainless steel and aged in Ruinart's Roman chalk cellars beneath Reims.
Look for a coral-pink hue, aromas of pomegranate, red berries and rose with a warm spiced edge, and a palate that stays fresh and finely structured rather than sweet or heavy. Serve well chilled, around 8°C.
This bottle comes in Ruinart's Second Skin case - a fully recyclable, plastic-free shell made from sustainably sourced paper, moulded to the bottle's distinctive curved shape.
