PN TX20 is the sixth edition in Bollinger's PN series - a run of Blanc de Noirs Champagnes, each made entirely from Pinot Noir and each built around a single village. This one belongs to Tauxières, a Premier Cru on the south-west slopes of the Montagne de Reims, where chalk and clay give the Pinot its freshness, precision and depth.

The 2020 base is layered with older reserve wines going back to 2008 and 2012, and the wine is aged for around four years - roughly twice the minimum Champagne requires. Dosage is a restrained 8g/l. The result is vinous and structured, with ripe stone fruit, a flinty, mineral edge and the creamy mousse that marks the house - rich, but carried with real tension.

In magnum, it's a gift built for the moment it's opened - the format that draws a crowd and pours for everyone still standing. It's also the size to keep back for later. Presented here in a black gift box.

The 2020 Vintage

The 2020 season opened mild and wet before turning hot and dry, pushing the harvest unusually early, to late August. It was a ripe, sunny year, and Tauxières gives that warmth its backbone - the reserve wines from 2008 and 2012 then pull the richness back into line. The result drinks generous and full now, but keeps the freshness and grip to hold for years.
