In the old days Publicans used to spread sand on bar floors to catch the slops and spills. At the end of each day this sand was swept up by Sandboys. It was thirsty work and they were part paid in drink to keep them merry. These days it might seem like a raw deal but happy was the man who got a free tipple and found dropped treasures amongst the sand.

Albariño is the signature white grape of Galicia’s Rías Baixas region in northwestern Spain, prized for its bright citrus, peach and saline notes that reflect the Atlantic influence on the vineyards. Known for its vibrant acidity and clean, mineral finish, Albariño pairs brilliantly with fresh seafood and tapas, making it one of Spain’s most popular and distinctive white wines.
