Why Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé is not like other rosé Champagne

Almost every rosé Champagne is made by adding a small amount of still red wine to a white base. Laurent-Perrier does not. Cuvée Rosé is made by maceration, leaving 100% Pinot Noir on its skins for 48 to 72 hours and drawing the juice off once the colour and aroma are where the house wants them - the method behind its salmon colour and its red-fruit character. It was released in 1968 and has been the reference point for rosé Champagne since. The bottle shape, modelled on a seventeenth-century original, is part of why it is recognised across a room.

Grand Siècle: a prestige Champagne gift built from three vintages

Grand Siècle was created in 1959 on a proposition no other house was making: that blending three complementary declared vintages could produce a better wine than any single year on its own. It carries no vintage on the label as a result, only an Itération number - N°26 is the current release here. Chardonnay leads the blend, with Pinot Noir from a small group of Grands Crus, and it spends around a decade on its lees before release.
