Pommery leads this rosé with Chardonnay, the grape behind the house's signature finesse, with a measure of red Pinot Noir blended in for its pale, delicate colour. Aged around three years in the chalk cellars beneath Reims, it stays fresh and finely poised where many rosés turn soft and sweet.

The house has shaped Champagne for nearly two centuries - it was Madame Pommery, known in Reims as la Dame aux Roses, who drove the move to a drier "brut" style in the 1870s. That instinct for elegance over sweetness is exactly what makes this rosé an easy, generous gift: a name with real standing, in a wine that drinks as well as it looks.
