Lothian Vineyards Chardonnay, Elgin 2022 | Fulham – The Fulham Wine Company

Lothian of Elgin

Situated within the Kogelberg Biosphere in South Africa’s strikingly cool Elgin Valley, Lothian of Elgin is a modern benchmark for Burgundian-inspired winemaking. Framed by mountain peaks and the Palmiet River, the estate’s high-altitude vineyards benefit from an exceptionally long, slow ripening season that builds detail and natural structure. Under the guidance of Master of Wine Richard Kershaw, the focus is firmly on precision and restraint, producing single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with clarity, tension and quiet power. These are beautifully balanced wines that marry vibrant fruit purity with refined, Old World structure.

Elgin

Elgin is the coolest corner of the Cape - a high apple-growing plateau in the Hottentots-Holland mountains, where sea mist and altitude stretch the growing season long after the warmer valleys have ripened. That slow, cool ripening is what the region trades on: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of real freshness and detail, closer in spirit to Burgundy than to the sun-baked Cape below. South Africa's answer to a cool-climate address.
